Glossary of Terms

Hi guys! I want to take this opportunity to give
you an idea of the different types of people you will find on the dating sites I
have recommended and the terminology that you will be exposed to. This
terminology stuff can get kind of complicated but I am going to try to keep it
as simple as possible.
Transsexual (TS): A person born as one
sex but transforms or changes to the opposite sex by social reconditioning,
hormones therapy and surgery.
Male To Female (MTF) Transsexual: A
person born as male but changes gender identity and physical appearance to
female
Female To Male (FTM) Transsexual: A
person born as female but changes gender identity and physical appearance to
male
Transgender (TG): Same Transsexual
Genetic Gender (GG): The gender of
a person at the time of birth.
Intersex / Hermaphrodite: A person born
with both male and female sexual organs. Such people usually choose to identify
themselves as either male or female.
Cross Dresser (CD): A man who like to
dress as a female
Transvestite (TV): Same as above
Sexual Reassignment Surgery (SRS): For a
MTF Transsexual this involves the surgical removal of the penis and creation of
a simulated vagina. A FTM Transsexual will have the female sexual organs removed
and a penis constructed from the clitoris.
Note: Many MTF Transsexuals like myself choose to keep their penis intact
but live as a woman.
Pre-Op Transsexual: A Transsexual who has
not had SRS surgery
Post-Op Transsexual: A Transsexual who
has had SRS surgery
Shemale: This is a slang term the refers
to a MTF Transsexual. Some people to consider it to be sleazy or derogatory but
I personally do not which is why I use it liberally on this site.
TGirl: Same as Shemale but without the
potentially negative connotation
Passable: This term refers to a Shemale
who's physical appearance who is completely indistinguishable from a that of a
genetic female. For example I would be considered passable.
In Transition: Refers to the process of
physical, social and psychological transformation to the opposite sex. So a
person in the process of sex change but not completely transformed would be
considered In Transition.
Warning. Although I use the term Shemale
and I am comfortable with referring to myself as a Shemale for the purpose of
running this site, most Transgender or Transsexual women don't like it because
they consider it to be sleazy or derogatory. So to avoid the possibility of
offending someone you find on the site, use terms like Transgender (TG)
Transsexual (TS) instead of Shemale when speaking about someone's sexual
identity. Also you can't go wrong by referring to the transgender women you meet
on the site as simply women or ladies because that IS how the view themselves.
